Hello – My name is Jim Pautler. I am a partner in the Deno Millikan Law Firm, and love the practice of law, particularly here in Snohomish County. I grew up in Walla Walla, a small community similar to Snohomish County. I worked on my uncle’s farm during the summers, and at age 18, left the small town life for the University of Washington. After leaving school, I worked for a variety of employers, from small family businesses to Fortune 500 companies. I’ve been to 48 out of 50 states, and many foreign countries. In the midst of my business travel, I managed to raise two sons.
In my law practice today, I find I continually draw from my broad background, especially my business experience. Not only does this give me insight into what my clients are experiencing, it helps me to analyze their legal issues and propose effective real-world solutions. Often I find that my clients appreciate the fact that I’ve walked in their shoes.
Despite the fact that I enjoyed business, and was successful at it, I always felt that I wanted to work with people on a more personal level. So, in 2002, I completed my undergraduate degree and, in 2005, I fulfilled my long-held dream of becoming a lawyer. I attended the Seattle University School of Law and studied harder than most. I was an editor on the Law Review and wrote articles on the law. I am extremely proud that, at the age of 49, I graduated from law school 10th out of 341 students, summa cum laude. It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of Snohomish County since 2007.
My practice is perfectly suited to Snohomish County. My clients are real people with varied needs. I love the fact that I can make a real difference in their lives. I like to think that my background has prepared me to be more than a lawyer; I want to be your trusted advisor. I want to be the person you call, that you can depend on, and that gives you reliable advice.
When I’m not practicing law, I enjoy listening to, writing, and playing music. You can visit my band at brohamm.com.
People ask me to describe to them what kind of advocate I am. Sometimes I am a bulldog, sometimes a diplomat. I am
a negotiator; I am a litigator; and I am an advisor. Quite often, my clients come to me at a time of crisis. One of the great rewards of the practice of law is seeing the relief on my client’s face when he or she realizes that they have someone on their side. I accept cases in family law, criminal, business, real estate, contract, estate planning, probate and related areas.
Let me know what I can do for you.
